Kamal Hassan & Asin in Indo-Japanese Film

Asin have come to Kerala to learn Kalari for the Indo-Japanese film ‘19 Steps. On her return from training, she gave a 15 minute interview.

This is what Asin had to say:

“I sign on a film after considering screenplay, characterization, production house and co-stars. I don’t come from an actor family. That’s why I’m yet to be satisfied with the acting I’ve done. There’s no such competition for me in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi. I am my own competition. I’ve no hankering for awards. My main concern is to be accepted by viewers. As long as people want to see me on screen, I will continue to act. Awards are just a bonus, that’s all.Because many actresses don’t consider acting as a profession, many leave the industry early. It’s wrong to think that Bollywood is against the south Indian film industry. If that were so, talented personalities like AR Rehman and Resul Pookutty would not have made such a big name for themselves. You can shine in films only through talent. I speak from personal experience. I would like very much to get back to the Malayalam film field with its talented personalities. Fee is not a hindrance to it.Bharath Bala is directing ‘19 Steps.’ Music is by AR Rehman. Kamal Hassan appears in an important role.

Pandiya Rajans film in International Children’s Film Festival

Director, Actor Pandiya Rajan have directed a short film titled ‘Iruthuligal’ is to create awareness about eradicate polio, has been chosen to be screened in international children’s film festival next month from 7 to 13th at Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. The Short film is to be screened under world cinema category.

Endhiran - 3 Crores for a single song

An exhilarating opening song scene with Super Star Rajini is to be shot in a few days. A.R.Rehman has already composed the music. The song that features the dance of Rajini and Aiswarya is sung by A.R.Rehman and Madhusri.

Speaking about this, Madhusri said: “It is so exciting to find a place in the effort by cinema’s great people like Rahman, Rajini, Shankar and Aiswarya. My friends think that I am a very lucky girl. I am very proud for having sung for ‘Endhiran.”

A gigantic set for this song is being put up by Babu Cyril at Ramojirao Film City. About 1000 artists will be dancing along with Rajini and Aiswarya. The cost of this song alone is around Rs.3 crores.

Kamal Hassan in Platinum Jubilee Celebrations of Kannada Film Industry

Kamal Hassan’s speech in Platinum Jubilee Celebrations of Kannada Film Industry is as follows. In no way Politics and Film Fraternity should be mixed for they’re alike Oil and Water… Film Industry is alike a train journey where people can get in without differentiation of caste, creed, religion or any such hurdles. Patently, I consider Kannada Film Industry as my aunt and sister to Tamil Film Industry.Also added, ‘My identity as Tamilian can never be changed… But I was very much inspired from my mentors; Gundu Rao (Nagesh) and Dr. Rajkumar… Of course, I’ve whole lot of friends from film industry and arts B Saroja Devi , Girish Karnad, P Lankesh, Kasaravalli, Ananthamurthy, Puttanaji, B.V.Karanth and others.

Getting on with his close friend Rajinikanth, Kamal Haasan said, ‘Shivaji Rao Gaekwad is my best competitor and we both are students in Tamil Film Industry.’

Finally, Padmashree concluded his speech saying, ‘Kindly invite me to the 100th year celebration of Kannada Cinema and don’t ignore me calling ‘Avaru Ondhu Mudhuka’ (He’s an old man).

Around One Lakh people had arrieved for the occasion and applauded with high spirits for Kamal Haasan’s warm speech in Kannada. Chief Minister Yediyurappa felicitated him with a Shawl and Silver Plaque

‘Endhiran’ release

The most expected Super Star Rajnikanth and Shankar’s film, ‘Endhiran, the Robot’, will be releasing only in 2011, it is rumoured. The film, directed by Shankar, also stars Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. The film, expected to be the high budgeted Indian fim ever made, with a budget exceeding Rs. 150 crore, is currently being produced by Sun Pictures. The original producers, Ayngaran International, backed out of the project citing recession and the high costs involved.

None other than Oscar winner AR Rahman scores music for the film. The film reportedly has the superstar in a double role: As a scientist and as a robot created by him. The film has some of the best technicians in the industry and also from US working for it.

Ilayaraja’s Gift to A.R.Rehman

At the function that took place yesterday, several legends like MS Viswanathan, Ilayaraja and Vidyasagar are present. Rehman started his speech with “Ellam pugazhum iraivanukke.” “Everyone says, I receive the Oscar with the blessings of my father. That’s true. I am reaping the benefits of his hard work. In the last 10 years, the Oscars always went to countries like Japan , China , and Italy , I always wondered why India could not receive it. We have maestros like Ilayaraja, MS Viswanathan, Naushad and KV Mahadevan. I have seen the great respect Ilayaraja commands here. That is greater than the Oscar honor. When I had hardly any free time, I composed music for ‘Slumdog Millionaire.’ It took me only 3 weeks to compose the music for the film. When I delivered the music, the Americans greeted me with a smile, the very smile that greeted me when I composed the music for ‘Roja.’

I don’t consider this my personal triumph. It is also of MS Viswanathan and Ilayaraj who are present here. When Balamuralikrishna spoke, one could gauge the depth of music. I thank all the musicians for having such a large heart. Each musician has a particular fan following. For praising me, don’t scold another musician on the Internet, is what I request of my fans.”

Those who spoke on the occasion included Balamuralikrishna, MS Viswanathan, Ilayaraja, producer AVM Saravanan, director K Balachander, music composers Deva, Vidyasagar, Harris Jayaraj, Bharadwaj, Devi Sriprasad, Shankar Ganesh, Yuvan Shankar Raja, playback singers TM Soundarajan, Mano, LR Eswari and S Janaki.

Ilayaraja gifted AR Rehman a gold chain and said, “Composer John Williams has won 4 Oscars. For that, it took him many years. Even before clicking our knuckles, our AR Rehman got 2 Oscars, one for each hand. That’s a matter of great pride. Music is beyond awards. In music, there is a lower sthayi, upper sthayi and a topmost sthayi. As far as I am concerned, Rehman has ascended the topmost sthayi. My congratulations to him. Harris Jayaraj gifted him a finger ring. Shankar Ganesh hugged Rehman. The function committee gifted Rehman a globe worth 2 lakhs, made of silver.

The Poster is the picture above and I found it really interesting ,. Is it really true i could not confim instantly but this has driven the chennaiites by surprise, why Obama has been featured on a Rajni film poster.

Barack Obama is already drivindg the world crazy and we hope he carry out all his promises.
According to sources, the film is a remake of ‘Khoon Ka Karz’, which also features Vinod Khanna, Sanjay Dutt, Kimi Katkar and Sangeeta Bijlani. This film is expected to hit the theatres this March.
Nobody would have not thought the character Obama entering Kollywood. But hope there is something coming out from this ad. We might get the answers for all our questions once its get released.

Trisha screamed and jumped in joy

“Even before coming to films, I was an ardent fan of AR Rehman. He has scored music for my films ‘Enakku 20 Unakku 18′ and ‘Ayudha Ezhuthu.’ When I heard he was composing the music, I did not even ask for the story, I just gave the call sheet. He is now composing music for my film ‘Vinnaithaandi Varuvaaya.’ When I heard he got the Oscar, my happiness knew no bounds. I’ve never felt so happy in my life. I have already got a promise from the director Gautham Menon who is directing ‘Vinnaithaandi Varuvaaya.’ That I should sit in the chair next to AR Rehman at the audio release function.

When the Oscar Awards function was going on, I was put up in a hotel in Hyderabad . I started watching the show from the morning itself. When the award was announced for AR Rehman, I screamed and jumped in joy. A hotel employee tapped on my door and asked me to turn down the volume of the TV as it was disturbing my neighbors! That was a little embarrassing but I celebrated all the same.” said Trisha

Rahmania in Chennai - 2 Oscars and 3 Hollywood Offers

A.R.Rehman back home, got a rousing reception in Chennai Airport. A.R. Rehman returned Chennai from Los Angeles with 2 Golden Statues. Hundreds were gathered outside the airport, waving the Indian flag proudly and cheering him. Folk dance, percussion sounds and bursting of fireworks greeted him. On behalf of the Tamilnadu government, minister Paruthi Ilamvazhudhi went to the airport to receive Rehman.

The media surrounded him and he took time to answer them. “As a Tamilian, to have won an Oscar makes me so proud. I do not like to distinguish as Tamil or Hindi. I want everyone to be as one. Even if I go to Bollywood or Hollywood , I never forget Tamil cinema. After receiving the Oscars, I have got 3 Hollywood offers to compose music. I am grateful to everyone to have come at this hour to welcome me,” said Rehman. ‘Jai Ho’
