Gautham out and Dharani to direct Ajit

Career of ultimate star Ajith is progressing perfectly with a string of success under his belt. After his recently released Aegan with Nayanthara, he was said to be teaming up with Gautham Vasudev Menon who has earned himself a name of a director who thinks ‘out of the box’. This project of the duo titled Suraaa was to be produced by SivajiFilms, would have been Ajith’s 49th film. The work was scheduled to start sometime in the near future. However as per the latest buzz in the industry, Ajith’s 49th film will not be Gautham’s Suraa, it will instead be one directed by Dharani.

The reasons reported for this new development seem to be manifold and not very distinct at present. But most sources are pointing to a difference in opinion between Gautham and Sivaji Productions who don’t seem to be too keen on entering into a first-copy basis arrangement with the director and hence drafted in Dharani. The sad thing here is that with Gautham the director, his script is also gone and a new one will have to get ready now. However, Ajith fans need not despair as Suraa has not yet been dropped. In fact the movie could now mark Ajith’s half century in Kollywood. But there is also the proposed Venkat Prabhu project.

Ajith’s first time association with Dharani will be a big draw in Kollywood. As a director of superhit action commercials like Dhil, Dhool and Ghilli, Dharani is expected to bring about fireworks with Ultimate Star for company. The only worry however is the failure of Kuruvi that has put a question mark on Dharani’s form. But, experience director that he is, Dharani will have put that behind him and move forward.
