Tamil Nadu government announced film awards for the year 2007 and 2008 respectively. Justice A.K. Rajan Committee which was assigned to pick the awardees, made the recommendations to the state government.
Chief Minister M.Karunanidhi bagged the best Dialogue Writer award for the film ”Uliyin Osai”.

Best Actor: RAJNIKANT for the film “Sivaji”
Best Actress: JOTHIKA for the film “Mozhi”
Best Film: SIVAJI
Best Actor (Special): SATHYARAJ for the film “PERIYAR”
Best Male Comedian: VIVEK
2008 Awards:
Best Actor: KAMAL HAASAN for the film “Dasavathaaram”
Best Actress: SNEHA for the film “Pirivoom Sandhippoom”
Best Film: DASAVATHAARAM
Best Male Comedian: VADIVEL
Best Female Comedian: “Kovai” SARALA
